Introduction DOAestimation,asignificantprobleminsignalprocessingandcommunicationsisespeciallyimportantinwirelesscommunications.Thecapabilitytoaccuratelydeterminetheangle-of-arrival(AOA)ofareceivedsignalhelpsovercomethefundamentallimitationofwirelesscommunicationsduetopropagationeffects.DOAestimationalgorithmsbasedontraditionalMUSIC,ESPRIT,andMaximumLikelihood(ML)methodsrequirecomplexsignalparametersinformationandexplicitassumptionsaboutthesignals,makingthemimpracticalformanyapplications.Thedifficultyandchallengeinseparatingsignalsunderunknownenvironmentsandspecificationsgaverisetothebirthofblindsourceseparation(BSS). BlindSourceSeparation(BSS) BSSisasignalprocessingtechniqueusedtoseparateasetofsourcesignalsfrommixedobservedsignalswithoutanypriorknowledgeofsourcesignalsorthemixingprocessitself.BSStechniquesarecapableofstrippingthemixedsignalsdownintoacollectionofindependent,uncorrelatedsignalsbyseparatingthesourcesandestimatingthemixingmatrix.BSShelpsovercometheproblemsofinter-symbolinterferenceandmultipleaccessinterferenceinDS-CDMAsystems.
