1.Introduction
Inrecentyears,theuseofdigitalsignalprocessors(DSPs)inawidevarietyofapplicationshasrapidlygrown.TheTMS320F2812isahigh-performance,32-bitfixed-pointDSPfromTexasInstrumentsthatiswidelyusedinindustrialautomationsystems,motioncontrolsystems,andpowerelectronicsapplications.ThisDSPoffershighperformanceandeasyintegrationwithotherhardwarecomponents.
Inthispaper,wewillpresentadesignofahardwareplatformbasedonacomplexprogrammablelogicdevice(CPLD)forimplementingtheTMS320F2812DSP.TheplatformisdesignedtoprovideanefficientinterfacebetweentheDSPandotherperipheraldevices,allowinguserstoeasilyintegrateitintotheirapplications.
2.TMS320F2812DSP
TheTMS320F2812DSPisahigh-performance,32-bitfixed-pointDSPthatiswidelyusedinindustrialautomationsystems,motioncontrolsystems,andpowerelectronicsapplications.ThisDSPoffershighperformanceandeasyintegrationwithotherhardwarecomponents.Ithasa150MHzclockfrequencyandcanperformupto300millionfloating-pointoperationspersecond(MFLOPS).
TheTMS320F2812DSPhasa16-bitexternalmemoryinterfacethatsupportsupto32MBofexternalmemory,makingitsuitableforapplicationsthatrequirelargeamountsofmemory.Italsohasanumberofintegratedperipherals,includingan8-channel,12-bitanalog-to-digitalconverter(ADC),two12-bitdigital-to-analogconverters(DACs),aprogrammablegainamplifier(PGA),andaPWMmoduleforgeneratinghigh-frequencysignals.
3.CPLD-BasedHardwarePlatform
ThehardwareplatformwedesignedisbasedonaCPLD,whichisusedtoimplementtheinterfacebetweentheTMS320F2812DSPandotherperipheraldevices.Theplatformfeaturesthefollowingcomponents:
-TMS320F2812DSP
-CPLD
-Externalmemory
-ADC/DACs
-PWMmodule
-JTAGinterface
TheCPLDisusedtointerfacetheexternalmemory,ADC/DACs,andPWMmodulewiththeTMS320F2812DSP.Theexternalmemoryisusedtostoreprogramanddatamemory,whiletheADC/DACsareusedtointerfacewithanalogdevices.ThePWMmoduleisusedtogeneratehigh-frequencysignals.
TheJTAGinterfaceisusedtoconnectthehardwareplatformtoadevelopmentenvironment,allowinguserstodebugandprogramtheTMS320F
