Abstract:
Thispaperproposesanovelmultiple-antennacodedivisionmultipleaccess(MC-CDMA)systemwithspace-timeblockcoding(STBC)andturbocodingbasedoncomplexwaveletpackets.Thesystememploysacombinationofcomplexwaveletpacketmodulation,space-timeblockcoding,andturbocodingtoenhancethesystemperformanceintermsofbiterrorrate(BER),spectralefficiency,andmulti-userinterference(MUI).TheproposedsystemiscomparedwithaconventionalMC-CDMAsystem,andsimulationresultsshowthatitoffersbetterperformanceinharshmultipathfadingenvironments.
Introduction:
Inwirelesscommunications,theuseofmultipleantennasatboththetransmitterandreceiverhasbeenshowntoprovidesignificantimprovementsinsystemperformance.Amongthevariousmultipleantennatechniques,space-timeblockcoding(STBC)hasbeenwidelyimplementedduetoitsabilitytoimprovethequalityofthetransmittedsignalandmitigatetheeffectsoffading.Codedivisionmultipleaccess(CDMA)isanotherpopulartechniqueformultipleaccess,whichenablesmultipleuserstotransmitoverthesamefrequencybandwithoutinterferingwitheachother.
Recently,complexwaveletpacketshavebeenemployedincommunicationsystemsduetotheirexcellenttime-frequencylocalizationpropertiesandhighdegreeoftransformsparsity.Inthispaper,weproposeanovelmultiple-antennaMC-CDMAsystemwithSTBCandturbocodingbasedoncomplexwaveletpackets.
ProposedSystem:
Theproposedsystememploysthefollowingstages:
1.Complexwaveletpacketmodulation:Thetransmitteddataisencodedwithacomplexwaveletpackettransform,whichprovidesacompactrepresentationofthesignalinthetime-frequencydomain.
2.STBC:ThemodulatedsignalisthentransmittedovermultipleantennasusingSTBC,whichimprovesthesignalqualityandreducestheeffectsoffading.
3.Turbocoding:Inordertofurtherimprovethesystemperformance,theSTBC-encodedsignalisthenturbocoded,whichprovidesadditionalerrorcorrectioncapability.
4.MC-CDMA:TheturboencodedsignalisthentransmittedovertheCDMAnetworkusingorthogonalcodesfordifferentusers.
