PerformanceAnalysisofAdHocFusionNetworks
Adhocfusionnetworksrefertonetworksthatareestablishedonatemporarybasisbetweennodesthatdonothaveapre-existinginfrastructureoracentralcoordinatingentity.Inthistypeofnetwork,eachnodeoperatesnotonlyasauserbutalsoasarouter,forwardingpacketstoothernodesinthenetwork.Theaimofthispaperistoevaluatetheperformanceofsuchnetworksusingvariousperformancemetrics.
Oneofthekeymetricsforevaluatingadhocfusionnetworksisconnectivity.Connectivityreferstotheabilityofnodesinthenetworktocommunicatewitheachother.Theconnectivityofadhocfusionnetworksisaffectedbyvariousfactorssuchasthedistancebetweennodes,thetransmissionpowerofnodes,andtheinterferencefromtheenvironment.Theconnectivitycanbeevaluatedusingmetricssuchasthepacketdeliveryratio(PDR)andtheend-to-enddelay.
ThePDRistheratioofthenumberofpacketsreceivedbythedestinationnodetothenumberofpacketssentbythesourcenode.Inadhocfusionnetworks,thePDRisaffectedbythedistancebetweennodes,whichaffectsthesignalstrength.Alargerdistancebetweennodesresultsinweakersignals,leadingtoalowerPDR.ThetransmissionpowerofnodescanalsoaffectthePDR.NodesthattransmitatahigherpowercanovercomeinterferenceandcongestionandachieveahigherPDR.However,nodesthattransmitatahigherpoweralsoconsumemoreenergy,whichaffectsthenetwork'slifetime.
Theend-to-enddelayisthetimetakenforapackettotravelfromthesourcenodetothedestinationnode.Inadhocfusionnetworks,theend-to-enddelayisinfluencedbythenumberofhopsbetweenthesourceanddestinationnodes.Ahighernumberofhopsresultsinalongerdelay.Theend-to-enddelayisalsoaffectedbytheroutingprotocolusedinthenetwork.Differentroutingprotocolshavedifferentmechanismsforselectingroutes,whichaffectthedelay.
