Pedestrianphasetimingisacriticalelementofsignaltimingthatrequirescarefulconsiderationtoensuresafetyandefficiency.Signalizedintersectionstypicallyhavefourphases:green,yellow,red,andpedestrian.Thepedestrianphaseinvolvesthestoppingofallvehicletraffictoallowpedestrianstocrosstheintersectionsafely.Inabidtoreducecongestion,increasesafety,andimprovepedestrianmobility,differentpedestrianphasetimingmethodshavebeendevelopedtocatertovaryingtrafficpatternsanddensities.
