Inpowerdistributionnetworks,accuratefaultlocationiscrucialforensuringreliabilityandefficiencyofoperations.Three-phasefaultrecordingisawidelyusedtechniqueinfaultlocation,wheresynchronizedsamplingofvoltageandcurrentwaveformsisperformedtoefficientlyidentifyandlocatefaults.However,inpractice,thesynchronizationofsamplingacrossallmeasurementdevicesmaynotalwaysbeachievedduetovariousfactors.Thispaperaimstoanalyzetheimpactofthree-phasefaultrecordingsamplingasynchronyonfaultlocationinpowerdistributionnetworks.Itexploresthepotentialchallengesandproposespotentialsolutionstomitigatetheimpactofasynchronyonfaultlocationaccuracy.
