Abstract:
ThepurposeofthisstudyistoempiricallyexaminetheculturaladaptationexperiencesofinternationalstudentsstudyinginSuzhou,China.Itinvestigatesthechallengestheyface,copingstrategiesemployed,andfactorsinfluencingtheiradaptationprocess.Theresearchmethodologyinvolvedacomprehensiveliteraturereview,surveys,andinterviewswithinternationalstudentsstudyinginSuzhou.Thefindingsrevealbothdifficultiesandsuccessesencounteredbyinternationalstudentsinculturaladaptationandprovideinsightsintothevariousfactorsthatenhanceorhindertheiradjustment.
Introduction:
Inrecentdecades,thenumberofinternationalstudentsstudyingabroadhassignificantlyincreased,andChinahasbecomeanincreasinglypopularstudydestination.Therefore,itiscrucialtounderstandtheexperiences,challenges,andstrategiesofculturaladaptationfacedbyinternationalstudentsstudyinginSuzhou,aprominentcityinChinathathostsseveralhighereducationinstitutions.Thisstudyaimstocontributetotheexistingliteratureoncross-culturaladaptationandprovidevaluableinsightsforacademicinstitutions,policy-makers,andotherstakeholdersinvolvedintheintegrationofinternationalstudentsinSuzhou.
LiteratureReview:
Theliteratureoncross-culturaladaptationsuggeststhatinternationalstudentsfacevariouschallengeswhenadaptingtoaforeignculture.Thesechallengescanincludelanguagebarriers,culturaldifferences,academicpressure,homesickness,andsocialisolation.However,studiesalsohighlightthatsocialsupport,communicationskills,culturalintelligence,andapositiveattitudeplayessentialrolesinfacilitatingculturaladaptation.
Methods:
Toconductthisempiricalstudy,bothquantitativeandqualitativeapproacheswereemployed.AquestionnairesurveywasdistributedamonginternationalstudentsstudyinginSuzhoutogatherdataontheirculturaladaptationexperiences,satisfactionwithuniversityservices,andsocio-culturalintegration.Additionally,semi-structuredinterviewswereconductedwithasampleofparticipantstoobtainin-depthinsightsi
