Introduction
DeconstructionisaphilosophicalandliterarytheorythatoriginatedinFranceinthe1960sand1970s,whichchallengestraditionalinterpretationsoftextsandtheirmeanings.Thetheoryassertsthatmeaningisnotfixedorobjectivebutiscreatedthroughthecomplexinterplayofsignsandsymbolsinlanguageandliterature.Inthisessay,wewilluseadeconstructionistapproachtoanalyzetherelationshipsbetweentheoriginaltext,itstranslation,theauthor,andthetranslator.
Analysis
Theoriginaltextanditstranslation
Therelationshipbetweentheoriginaltextanditstranslationiscomplexandinfluencedbyvariousfactors.Oneoftheprimaryfactorsislanguage;thelanguageoftheoriginaltextisoftenculturallyandlinguisticallyspecific,makingitchallengingtotranslateitaccuratelyintoanotherlanguage.Moreover,theculturalcontextsoftheoriginaltextanditstranslationaredifferent,affectingthewaythemessageistransmittedinthetranslatedtext.
Thedeconstructionistapproachsuggeststhatmeaningisnotfixedorobjectivebutiscreatedthroughthecomplexinterplayofsignsandsymbolsinlanguageandliterature.Therefore,thetranslationofatextcannotsimplytransmittheauthor'sintendedmeaningbutwillalwaysinvolvealevelofinterpretationonthepartofthetranslator.Thetranslatorneedstomakeaseriesofchoicesabouthowtotranslatespecificwords,phrases,andgrammaticalstructures,whichcanimpacttheoverallmeaningofthetranslatedtext.
Forinstance,intranslatingChinesetextstoEnglish,theremaybedifferencesinsentencestructureandwordorder,whichcancauseachangeintheoverallmeaningofthetranslatedtext.Additionally,thetranslatormayhavetochoosebetweenpreservingtheoriginalculturalcontextandincorporatingthetargetlanguage'sculture,whichcansignificantlyalterthetranslatedtext'ssignificance.
Therefore,adeconstructionistapproachtoanalyzingtherelationshipbetweentheoriginaltextanditstranslationhighlightsthatthereisnofixedorobjectivemeaning,andmeaningiscreatedthroughthecomplexinterplayofsymbolsandsignsinlanguage.
