Abstract
Satelliteinformationsupporthasplayedanincreasinglysignificantroleinmilitaryoperations.Assuch,itisessentialtoevaluatetheimpactofsuchsupportoncombateffectivenessinordertooptimizeitsuse.Thispaperprovidesanoverviewofcurrentmethodsforevaluatingtheimpactofsatelliteinformationsupportoncombateffectivenessandproposesanewassessmentmethodthattakesintoaccountawiderangeoffactors,includingmissionobjectives,satellitecapability,operationalenvironment,andenemythreatlevel.Thisnewmethodisdesignedtoprovideamorecomprehensiveandaccurateassessmentoftheimpactofsatelliteinformationsupportoncombateffectiveness.
Introduction
Theuseofsatellitetechnologyhaschangedthewaymilitaryoperationsareconducted.Satellitescanprovidecriticalinformationtomilitarycommandersanddecision-makers,includingweatherandterraindata,intelligence,communications,andnavigation.Assuch,satelliteinformationsupporthasbecomeanintegralpartofmilitaryoperations,enablingcommanderstomakebetter-informeddecisionsandachievetheirobjectivesmoreefficiently.
However,assessingtheimpactofsatelliteinformationsupportoncombateffectivenesscanbechallenging.Therearemanyfactorsthatcanaffecttheeffectivenessofsatellitesupport,includingmissionobjectives,satellitecapability,operationalenvironment,andenemythreatlevel.Evaluatingtheimpactofeachofthesefactorsrequiresacomprehensiveandsystematicassessmentmethod.
