Inrecentyears,withtheincreasingglobalizationoftradeandtransportation,theimportanceofthemaritimeindustryhasbecomemoreprominent.Thedevelopmentofmaritimetechnologyhasplacedahigherdemandontheknowledgeandskillsofprofessionalsinthefield.Oneofthekeyskillsforaship’selectricalengineeristopossessagoodcommandofEnglishasmosttechnicaldocuments,andcommunicationwithforeigncounterpartsisconductedinthislanguage.Therefore,theteachingofEnglishinthecontextofship’selectricalengineeringhasattractedmuchattentionfromeducatorsandresearchers.Inthispaper,wewillexploretheimportanceofusingacorpus-basedapproachinteachingEnglishtoship’selectricalengineers.
