Introduction:
Intheeraofglobalization,thedemandforEnglishlanguageskillsisincreasingrapidly,leadingtoasignificantgrowthinthenumberofEnglishmajorsinuniversitiesandcollegesworldwide.However,asthefunctionsandrequirementsofEnglishlanguageteachingcontinuetoevolve,Englishmajoreducationisundergoingatransformationperiod.ThispaperaimstoprovideanoverviewofthecurrentstatusofEnglishmajorteachingduringthistransitionalstage.
I.EvolutionofEnglishMajorTeaching:
Englishmajoreducationhasexperiencedvariousstagesofdevelopment,fromthetraditionalgrammar-translationmethodtoamorecommunicativeandinteractiveapproach.Inrecentyears,thefocushasshiftedfromlanguageknowledgeacquisitiontothecultivationofcomprehensivelanguageskills,includinglistening,speaking,reading,andwriting.Thistransitionreflectsagreateremphasisonpracticalityandreal-lifeapplicationoftheEnglishlanguage.
II.ChallengesFacedbyEnglishMajorTeaching:
A.OutdatedCurriculumandPedagogicalApproaches:
