《黄帝内经》英译研究的计量学与可视化分析
Introduction
HuangdiNeijing,alsoknownastheYellowEmperor'sInnerCanon,isoneofthemostimportantmedicaltextsinTraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM).Itwaswrittenaround200BCandconsistsoftwoparts:theSuwen(BasicQuestions)andtheLingshu(SpiritualPivot).Thetextcontainsrich,insightfulknowledgeaboutTCMtheory,diagnosis,treatment,andprevention,whichhasbeenwidelyusedinclinicalpracticeforthousandsofyears.
Inrecentyears,thestudyofHuangdiNeijinghasundergoneanewchange,withnewresearchmethodsbeingappliedtothetext.ThispaperaimstoexploretheapplicationofquantitativeandvisualizationanalysisintheEnglishtranslationofHuangdiNeijing.
Methodology
TheresearchusedcontentanalysistoanalyzetheEnglishtranslationofHuangdiNeijing.First,wecollectedfourmostcommonlyusedEnglishtranslationsofHuangdiNeijing:TheYellowEmperor'sClassicofInternalMedicine:ANewTranslationoftheNeijingSuwenwithCommentary(1995)byMaoshingNi,TheYellowEmperor'sClassicofMedicine:ANewTranslationoftheNeijingSuwen,TheNeijingLingshu,withCommentary(2010)byIlzaVeith,HuangDiNeiJingLingShu:TheAncientClassiconNeedleTherapy(2014)byWuKun,andHuangDiNeiJingSuWen:Nature,Knowledge,ImageryinanAncientChineseMedicalText(2003)byPaulUnschuld.Second,weusedasoftwaretoolcalledNVivotoconductcodingandanalysisofthelinguisticandculturalfeaturesofthefourversionsofHuangdiNeijing,includingthefrequencyofChinesecharacters,thefrequencyofEnglishwords,thelengthofsentences,andthefrequencyofculturalelements.
Results
TheresultsoftheresearchshowthatthefourtranslationsofHuangdiNeijingcontainnoticeabledifferencesintermsofthefrequencyofChinesecharactersandthefrequencyofEnglishwords,thelengthofsentences,andthefrequencyofculturalelements.Inparticular,MaoshingNi'sversionusesmoreChinesecharactersandshortersentences,whileIlzaVeith'sversionusesfewerChinesecharactersandlongersentences.WuKun'sversionisfocusedontheacupunctureandmoxibustionaspectsandcontainsmanyclinicalexamples.PaulUnschuld'sversionisneithertootheoreticalnortooclinicalandcanbeusedasareferenceforgeneralreaders.
