Asthedemandforqualityhealthcareservicescontinuestogrow,theneedforwell-trainedandskillednursingprofessionalsiscritical.Nursesplayavitalroleinprovidingclinicalcaretopatients,supportingpatientoutcomes,andpromotingsuccessfulhealthcareoutcomes.Thisresearchstudyexamineshowutilizingscenario-basedteachingandlearningstrategiesinthenursingcurriculumcanimprovestudentoutcomesinhighereducation.Thefocusisontheeffectivenessoftheseteachingstrategiesonstudentsenrolledinthenursingandalliedhealthprofessionsprograms,particularlyinthecontextoftheChineseeducationalsystem.

Traditionally,nursingeducationhasfocusedontheoreticalknowledgeandskillsacquisition,withminimalemphasisonexperientiallearning.However,advancesintechnologyandknowledgehaveledtosignificantchangesinteachingandlearningstrategies.Scenario-basedteachingandlearninghaveemergedasaneffectivetoolforaddressingthisdeficitinnursingeducation.Thisinvolvesimmersiveandrealisticlearningexperiencesthatenhancestudents'criticalthinkingabilities,communicationskills,andclinicaldecision-makingskills.Scenario-basedlearningallowslearnerstopracticetheskills,knowledge,andbehaviorstheylearnintheclassroominarealisticclinicalsetting,whichresultsinbetterstudentoutcomes(Bakeretal.,2017).
AccordingtoForondaetal.(2016),scenario-basedteachingandlearningmethodsinnursingeducationpromotehigherstudentsatisfactionrates,bettercommunicationskills,andmoreeffectiveclinicaljudgement.Theauthorssuggestthattheuseoftheseteachingmethodsinnursingcurriculacanenhanceleadershipabilities,teamwork,andpatient-centeredcare.Intheirresearch,theauthorsfoundthatnursingstudents'confidenceinclinicaldecision-making,communication,andleadershipskillsimprovedsignificantlyafterexperiencingscenario-basedlearning.
