非英语专业大学生英语词汇学习策略与长期效果关系研究 Introduction Inrecentyears,theimportanceofEnglishhasbeenwidelyrecognizedasithasbecomethelanguageofinternationalcommunicationinvariousfields.Asaresult,theimportanceofEnglishlanguageeducationhasincreased,andmoreandmorestudentsarebeingrequiredtolearnEnglish.However,learningEnglish,especiallyfornon-Englishmajors,canbedifficultandtime-consuming.OneofthemostchallengingaspectsoflearningEnglishisvocabularyacquisition.Thispaperaimstoinvestigateeffectivevocabularylearningstrategiesfornon-Englishmajorcollegestudentsandtheirlong-termeffectsontheirEnglishproficiency. LiteratureReview Vocabularylearningstrategieshavebeenthesubjectofvariousstudiesinthepastfewdecades.Somestudiesrevealedthatvocabularylearningstrategiesareanessentialfactorforsuccessfullanguagelearning(Zhang,2008).Incontrast,otherstudiesarguethattheeffectivenessofthesestrategiesdependsonvariousfactors,suchastheparticularlanguagetask,studentcharacteristics,andlearningcontext(Lee&VanPatten,2003). SeveralstrategiescanhelpEnglishlanguagelearnersacquirevocabularyquicklyandefficiently.Thesestrategiescanbecategorizedintotwotypes:explicitandimplicit(Cenoz&Gorter,2015).Explicitstrategiesrefertotechniquesthatinvolvedirectlearningmethodssuchasrotememorization,usingflashcards,anddictionaryuse.Implicitstrategies,ontheotherhand,arebasedoncontextandincludetechniquessuchasguessingintelligently,usingcontextclues,andinferringmeaning. Methodology ToinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenvocabularylearningstrategiesandEnglishproficiency,amixed-methodsapproachwasused.Aquantitativesurveywasadministeredto200non-EnglishmajorcollegestudentswhohadstudiedEnglishforatleasttwoyears.Thesurveywasdesignedtoassessthestudents'vocabularystrategiesandEnglishproficiencylevel.Furthermore,tenstudentsfromthesamepopulationwereselectedforaqualitativestudythatinvolvedsemi-structuredinterviewsabouttheirvocabularylearningstrategiesandtheireffectiveness.
