ResearchonCombustionCharacteristicsofCoalBlends
Abstract:
Thispaperaimstoinvestigatethecombustioncharacteristicsofcoalblends.Aseriesofexperimentswereconductedtodeterminetheeffectsofcoalblendingonthecombustionofcoal.Theexperimentsincludedproximateanalysis,calorificvalueanalysis,andthermogravimetricanalysis(TGA).Theresultsshowedthatblendingdifferenttypesofcoalhasasignificanteffectonthecombustionprocess.Thecoalblendwithahighercalorificvalueandlowerashcontentburnedfaster,producedlesssmokeandproducedahigherthermalefficiency.Theresultsofthisstudyprovideausefulreferenceforthermalpowerplantstoselecttheappropriatecoalblendsforcombustionpurposes.
Introduction:
Coalisoneoftheprimaryenergyresourcesusedforpowergeneration.Mixingdifferenttypesofcoalisacommonpracticeinthermalpowerplants.Coalblendingisusedtoachievebettercombustionefficiency,reduceemissionsandimproveenvironmentalperformance.Therefore,itisimportanttounderstandthecombustioncharacteristicsofcoalblendsforefficientandeffectiveutilizationofcoal.
Methodology:
Theexperimentswerecarriedoutonthreetypesofcoal:anthracite,bituminous,andlignite.Thecoalblendswerethenpreparedbymixingdifferentproportionsofthesethreetypesofcoal.Theproximateanalysisofcoalwasperformedtodeterminethemoisturecontent,ashcontent,volatilemattercontent,andfixedcarboncontent.Thecalorificvalueofthecoalblendswasdeterminedusingabombcalorimeter.Thethermogravimetricanalysis(TGA)wascarriedoutusingathermalanalyzertoinvestigatethecombustioncharacteristicsofthecoalblends.
Results:
Thecalorificvalueofthecoalblendswasfoundtoincreasewithanincreaseintheproportionofanthracitecoal.Thevolatilemattercontentdecreasedwithanincreaseintheproportionoflignitecoal.Theashcontentofthecoalblendsshowedaslightincreasewithanincreaseintheproportionofbituminouscoal.Thethermogravimetricanalysisshowedthatthecoalblendwithahighercalorificvalueandlowerashcontenthadahighermasslossrateandburnedfaster.Thecoalblendwithahigherproportionofbituminouscoalgaverisetomoresmokeanddecreasedthermal
