Introduction
Fireisadestructiveanddangerousnaturalphenomenonthatposesathreattohumanlife,theenvironment,andproperty.Intheeventofafireoutbreak,earlydetectioniscriticalinsavinglivesandminimizingdamages.Variousfiredetectiontechnologieshavebeendevelopedovertheyears,rangingfrommanualdetectiontoautomateddetectionsystems.Automatedfiredetectionsystemsarebasedonalgorithmsthatanalyzeenvironmentalfactorstodetectthepresenceoffire.Thepurposeofthispaperistoevaluatethevariousfiredetectionalgorithmsusedindifferentenvironmentsandtheireffectivenessindetectingfires.
TypesofFireDetectionAlgorithms
1.Video-BasedFireDetectionAlgorithms
Video-basedfiredetectionalgorithmsrelyonvisualdatacapturedbycamerastodetectthepresenceofsmoke,flames,orothersignsoffire.Thesealgorithmsusecomputervisiontechniquestoanalyzethevideofeedsanddetectpatternsassociatedwithfires.Video-basedfiredetectionalgorithmsareoftenusedinlargebuildingsorpublicplaceswherevideosurveillanceisalreadyinplace.Thesecanbeeffectiveindetectingfires,butoftenhavelimitationsintermsoftheaccuracyofdetectionandthespeedofresponse.
2.Thermal-BasedFireDetectionAlgorithms
Thermal-basedfiredetectionalgorithmsusethermalimagingcamerastodetectthepresenceofheatgeneratedbyafire.Thesecamerashavetheadvantageofbeingabletodetectfireseveninlow-lightorobscuredenvironments.However,theycanbelimitedbytherangeofdetectionandthereliabilityofthecameratechnology.
