Benefitsofoutsidereading Beforeexaminingthemanagementmethods,it’simportanttohighlightsomeofthebenefitsofoutsidereadingforEFLstudents.Oneofthemostobviousbenefitsisvocabularyacquisition,asexposuretonewwordsandphraseshelpsstudentstoexpandtheirvocabularyanduselanguagemoreeffectively.Outsidereadingalsoimprovesreadingfluency,readingcomprehension,writingskills,andcriticalthinkingskills.Additionally,studentsoftenbecomemotivatedtoreadinEnglishwhentheydiscoverinterestingstories,news,andarticlesthatcatertotheirindividualinterests. Challengesofoutsidereadingintegration Despitethebenefitsofoutsidereading,therearesomechallengesinintegratingreadingmaterialintoastructuredlanguagelearningenvironment.Onechallengeisensuringthatstudentsreadregularly,oftenvoluntarily,andthattheyunderstandthematerialtheyarereading.Researchshowsthatfrequentandvoluntaryreadingisassociatedwithimprovementinreadingproficiency,vocabulary,andcomprehensionskills.Therefore,encouragingstudentstoreadoutsideofclassroomenvironmentregularlyisessential.Moreover,selectingsuitableandengagingtextsforalllevelsofstudentsiscrucialasitisthefoundationofthesuccessoftheprogramme.
