Introduction:
Intraplateearthquakesoccurwithintectonicplatesawayfromplateboundaries.Theseearthquakesareoftenassociatedwithpre-existingweaknessesorstressconcentrationswithintheinterioroftheplate.Whenanintraplateearthquakeoccurs,itgeneratesvarioustypesofseismicwavesthatpropagatethroughtheEarth'sinterior.Amongthesewaves,theinitialarrivalP-wavesplayacrucialroleinunderstandingtheearthquakesourceanditssubsequenteffects.ThispaperaimstoanalyzethecharacteristicsandimportanceoftheinitialarrivalP-wavesinintraplateearthquakes.
CharacteristicsofInitialArrivalP-waves:
P-waves,orprimarywaves,arethefastestseismicwavesgeneratedduringanearthquake.TheyarecompressionalwavesthatpropagatethroughtheEarthbycompressingandexpandingthematerialintheirway.Duetotheirloweramplitudeandhighfrequency,P-wavestypicallyarrivefirstataseismographstation.WhenconsideringtheanalysisofinitialarrivalP-wavesinintraplateearthquakes,thereareseveralaspectstoconsider:
