法却仍和原始最初的一样。确实令人吃惊，经过这么多年，教育家们还没有创立出一种比考
试更有效、更可靠的方法。考试就是测验你知道什么，对于所有这些虔诚的说法，普遍认为
往往适得其反。考试可能是一种测试记忆力的好方式，或者是让人在极端压力下快速工作的
诀窍,但是它却一点儿也不能说明一个人真正的能力和才智。
作为焦虑制造者，考试是首屈一指的。这是因为考试决定着很多事情。在我们的社会中，
考试是成功或失败的标志。在事关命运的一天里你的整个前途就被决定下来了。无论你当时
的心情很糟糕，或者你的母亲已去世，都不重要。像那样的小事都不能说明什么：考试依然
进行。当身陷致命的恐惧中或经过一个失眠之夜后，没人能发挥出他的最佳水平，不过这正
是考试制度所期望他这样做的。
