MIMO(MultipleInputMultipleOutput)technologyhasbeenwidelyusedinWCDMA(WidebandCodeDivisionMultipleAccess)systemstoimprovethesystemperformanceandenhancetheoverallcapacity.MIMOprecodingisanessentialtechniqueinMIMOsystems,whichcaneffectivelyreduceinterferencesandincreasesystemthroughput.Inthispaper,wewillexploretheresearchonMIMOprecodinginWCDMAsystems,includingthemotivation,principles,andvariousprecodingtechniques.
1.Introduction
Withtheincreasingdemandforhigh-speeddatatransmissionandreliablecommunicationservices,thedevelopmentofwirelesscommunicationsystemshasevolvedtomeettheserequirements.WCDMAisapopularthird-generationmobilecommunicationsystemthatprovideshigh-speeddataandmultimediaservices.However,thesystemcapacityandspectralefficiencyarelimited,especiallyinthepresenceofinterferences.Therefore,theresearchonMIMOtechnologyhasattractedsignificantattentionduetoitspotentialtoenhancethesystemcapacityandreduceinterferences.
2.Motivation
TheuseofmultipleantennasatboththetransmitterandreceiversidesinaMIMOsystemenablesthesystemtoexploitmultipathpropagationandspatialdiversity,therebyimprovingsystemperformance.MIMOprecodingtechniquesaimtooptimizethetransmittedsignalsatthetransmittersidetoachievebetterperformanceatthereceiverside.ThemotivationbehindMIMOprecodingresearchinWCDMAsystemsincludes:
2.1InterferenceMitigation:InWCDMAsystems,interferencesfromneighboringcellscanseverelyimpactthesystemperformance.MIMOprecodingtechniquescaneffectivelyreduceinterferencesbyusingspatialfilteringandbeamforming,resultinginimprovedsignalqualityandthroughput.
2.2CapacityEnhancement:MIMOsystemscanenhancethesystemcapacitybytransmittingmultipledatastreamssimultaneouslyovermultipleantennas.MIMOprecodingaimstooptimizethetransmissionstrategytomaximizethethroughputandspectralefficiencyofthesystem.
3.PrinciplesofMIMOPrecoding
