Introduction
Postmodernismisanincreasinglyrelevantperspectiveincontemporarystudiesofliterature,languageandculture.Itemphasizesthesubjectivenatureofreality,andtheinstabilityofmeaningandlanguage.Inthispaper,IwilldiscusstheapplicationofpostmoderntheoriestothetranslationofEnglisholdwordsintonewones,andexaminethechallengesandopportunitiesthisapproachpresents.
TranslationandPostmodernism
Accordingtopostmodernism,realityissubjective,fragmentedandunstable.Language,asameansofcommunication,isregardedasequallyunstablesincedifferentindividualscaninterpretwordsdifferentlybasedontheirownexperiences,valuesandculturalbackgrounds.Translation,whichinvolvestransferringmeaningfromonelanguagetoanother,isaparticularlycomplicatedprocessinthiscontext.
