Abstract:
Thepurposeofthisresearchistoinvestigatethegas-solidflowcharacteristicsinamulti-phasepackedbubblefluidizedbedthroughnumericalsimulation.Apackedbubblefluidizedbedisatypeoffluidizedbedwheresolidparticlesareheldinapackedbed,andgasisintroducedthroughbubbles.Thisstudyaimstogainabetterunderstandingoftheflowbehaviorandefficiencyofgas-solidmixinginthistypeofreactor.Toachievethis,anumericalmodelwasdevelopedbasedontheEuler-Eulerapproach,whichtreatsgasandsolidphasesasseparatecontinua.Thetwo-fluidmodelwasutilizedtosolvethegoverningequationsforgasandsolidphases,includingthecontinuity,momentum,andturbulenceequations.Thesimulationresultswerevalidatedagainstexperimentaldatafromtheliterature,andgoodagreementwasobtained.Thevalidatednumericalmodelwasthenusedtoinvestigatetheeffectofvariousoperatingconditionsanddesignparametersonthegas-solidflowcharacteristicsinthemulti-phasepackedbubblefluidizedbed,suchasgasvelocity,particlesize,bedheight,andbubblediameter.Theresultsrevealedimportantinsightsintothehydrodynamicsofthesystem,includingtheformationofbubbles,gasdistribution,solidsmixing,andpressuredropacrossthebed.Thisresearchcontributestotheunderstandingofgas-solidflowcharacteristicsinmulti-phasepackedbubblefluidizedbedsandprovidesvaluableguidanceforthedesignandoptimizationofsuchreactors.
