Abstract
Thesuspensionsystemofavehicleisanimportantcomponentthatdetermineshowthevehiclehandlesandrides.Inthispaper,wepresentastudyonthemotionsimulationofasteelplatespringsuspensionsystem.Byusingtheparameterizationmethod,weareabletoinvestigatetheeffectsofvariousdesignparametersonthedynamicperformanceofthesystem.Ourresultsprovideinsightsintohowtooptimizethesuspensionsystemforimprovedridecomfortandhandling.
Introduction
Thesuspensionsystemofavehicleisdesignedtodampenvibrationsandbumpswhileprovidingthenecessarysupportforthevehicle'sweight.Springsareafundamentalcomponentofthesuspensionsystemthatareresponsibleforabsorbinganddissipatingthekineticenergyfromthevehicle'sverticalmotion.Ingeneral,thesteelplatespringsuspensionsystemiscommonlyusedinheavy-dutyvehiclessuchastrucksandbusesduetotheirrobustnessandcost-effectiveness.However,theperformanceofsuchsystemsishighlydependentonvariousdesignfactors,includingspringstiffness,dampingratio,andtheshapeofthespringcurve.Therefore,itiscrucialtooptimizethesuspensionsystemdesignforimprovedridecomfortandhandling.
Inthisstudy,wedevelopamotionsimulationmodelforasteelplatespringsuspensionsystem.Weparameterizethedesignfactorsandinvestigatetheeffectsofeachparameterontheoveralldynamicperformanceofthesystem.Ourresultsshowhowchangesintheseparameterscanimpactthefrequencyresponseandoverallridecomfortofthesystem.
Methodology
Wedevelopa3DmodelofthesteelplatespringsuspensionsysteminMSCAdamssoftware.Themodelconsistsofasprungmass,anunsprungmass,andasteelplatespring.Weparameterizethedesignfactorsincludingspringstiffness,dampingratio,anddesigncurveshape.Thesimulationmodelissubjectedtoaharmonicdisturbanceforce,andtheresponseisrecordedoverafrequencyrange.
WeusetheFourierTransformtoanalyzethefrequencyresponseofthesystemunderdifferentparametersettings.Then,weusetheRideEvaluationmethodtoevaluatetheridecomfortofthesystem.
Results
Oursimulationresultsshowthatthestiffnessofthesteelplatespringhasasignificantimpactonthedynamicresponseofthesystem.
