Abstract:
Windenergyconversionsystemshavebecomeincreasinglyvitalsourcesofrenewableenergy,beingusedforelectricitygenerationandpoweringmanyindustrialapplications.Efficientcontrolofwindenergyconversionsystemsiscriticalinensuringhighenergyconversionefficiencyandreducingsystemcost.ThispaperpresentsadesignofacontrollerforawindenergyconversionsystembasedondSPACEhardwareandsoftware.
Introduction:
Windenergyconversionsystems(WECS)aregrowinginpopularity,withmanygovernmentsandcompaniesinvestinginthesesystemsasasourceofsustainableandeco-friendlyenergy.TheWECSconvertsthekineticenergyinwindintoelectricalenergythatisusedtopowerhomes,businesses,andindustries.EfficientandstablecontroloftheWECSisessentialinensuringefficientenergyconversionandsafeoperation.
Inthispaper,wepresentthedesignandimplementationofacontrollerforaWECStomaximizeenergyconversionefficiency.ThecontrollerwillbebasedondSPACEhardwareandsoftware,aleadingsystemproviderintheareaofcontrolandsimulation.
Background:
Atypicalwindenergyconversionsystemconsistsofaturbine,agearbox,agenerator,andapowerconverter.Theturbineconvertsthekineticenergyinthewindintorotationalenergy,whichistransmittedtothegearbox.Thegearboxincreasesthespeedoftherotationalenergy,whichisthentransferredtothegenerator.Thegeneratorconvertstherotationalenergyintoelectricalenergy,whichcanbesynchronizedwiththegridthroughthepowerconverter.
Toensureefficientenergyconversion,thecontrolsystemoftheWECSmustregulatethetorqueoftheturbineandtheoutputpowerofthegenerator.Thecontrollermustalsoaccountforthevariationinwindspeed,whichisaprimaryfactoraffectingtheefficiencyofthesystem.Thecontrollershouldbedesignedtooperateunderdifferentwindconditions,includinggusts,turbulence,andwindshear.
DesignandImplementation:
