Abstract
InTD-SCDMAsystems,outerlooppowercontrol(OLPC)iscrucialformaintainingthequalityofserviceandmaximizingsystemcapacity.Inthispaper,weproposeanOLPCalgorithmbasedoninformationfusiontechnique,whichcombinestheadvantagesofbothchannelqualityinformation(CQI)andtimingadvance(TA)feedbacks.Theproposedalgorithmmitigatestheoscillationproblemandimprovescontrolaccuracyinhighmobilityscenarios.SimulationresultsshowthattheproposedalgorithmoutperformsexistingOLPCalgorithms.
Introduction
TD-SCDMAisa3GmobilecommunicationstandarddevelopedbytheChinaAcademyofTelecommunicationsTechnology(CATT).ItiswidelyusedinChinaandothercountriessuchasSaudiArabiaandPakistan.InTD-SCDMAsystems,theouterlooppowercontrol(OLPC)algorithmisusedtoadjustthetransmitpowerofthebasestationtoensureacertainsignal-to-interference-plus-noiseratio(SINR)atthereceiverside.OLPCplaysacrucialroleinmaintainingthequalityofservice(QoS)andmaximizingsystemcapacity.
InexistingOLPCalgorithmsforTD-SCDMAsystems,twotypesoffeedbackinformationareused:channelqualityinformation(CQI)andtimingadvance(TA).CQIfeedbackprovidesinformationonthequalityoftheuplinkchannel,whileTAfeedbackprovidesinformationonthedistancebetweenthemobileterminalandthebasestation.However,thesetwotypesoffeedbackhavetheirlimitations.CQIfeedbacksuffersfromthedelayinchannelestimationandtheoverheadoffeedbacksignaling,whileTAfeedbacksuffersfromtheinaccuraciesindistanceestimationandthesensitivitytosynchronizationerrors.
Toovercometheselimitations,weproposeanOLPCalgorithmbasedoninformationfusiontechnique.TheproposedalgorithmcombinestheadvantagesofbothCQIandTAfeedbacks,andmitigatestheoscillationproblemandimprovescontrolaccuracyinhighmobilityscenarios.Inthefollowingsections,wedescribetheproposedalgorithmindetailandpresentsimulationresultstoevaluateitsperformance.
ProposedAlgorithm
TheproposedalgorithmisbasedonaKalmanfilterthatfusestheCQIandTAfeedbacks.TheKalmanfilterisarecursivealgorithmthatestimatesthestateofadynamicsystembasedonnoisymeasurement
