Analyzethetask
Thismustbedonequicklybutcarefully.Youmustreadtheinstructionsproperly.ThefirstacademicwritingtaskinIELTSisadescription;youwillthereforebeaskedtodescribesomething.Analyzethetasktofindthetopicorgeneraltheme.Forexample,inthefollowingtask:Describehowsolarradiationcanbeutilizedtoprovidedomestichotandlightingthetopicissolarradiation.

Thenextstepistodecideontheactualquestionyouarebeingasked.Intheexampleabove,thequestionis:Howcanitprovidedomestichotwaterandlighting?Thequestioniswhatyouarebeingaskedtowriteabout.

Youmustalsoanalyzethetasktodecidewhatparticulartasktypeitis,asthiswillaffecthowyouorganizeyourwriting.Thisisdiscussedbelow.

Object:Withanabjectorsetofobjectsyoumustdescribewhatsomethingisorwhatisdoes.Forthisyoumustfocusontherelationshipbetweenparts.
Data:Withdatayoumustdescribechanges,differencesortrends.Focusonwhattheseareandwhy.

Onceyouhaveanalyzedthetaskandknowwhatyouneedtodo,thenextstepistowritenotes.Thisisanessentialpartoforganizingyourwritingandyoushouldspenduptofiveminutesonthis.Chooserelevantmaterialthatyouneedtocompletethedescription.Whatyouchoosemustberelevanttothequestion.

Arrangeyournotesunderheadingsandorderthem
