Introduction
TD-LTE(TimeDivisionLong-TermEvolution)isastandardforwirelesscommunicationinChinaandsomeothercountriesinAsia.Itisa4GLTEstandardwithlowlatencyandhigh-speeddatatransferrates.MU-MIMO(Multi-UserMulti-InputMulti-Output)isatechnologyusedinwirelesscommunicationnetworkstoincreasethecapacityofthenetworkandimprovetheperformanceofthesystem.ThispaperpresentsastudyontheperformanceofTD-LTEsystemusingMU-MIMOinanoutdoorenvironment.
TD-LTESystemArchitecture
TD-LTEtechnologyisbasedontheLTE(Long-TermEvolution)standardswhichusetime-divisionduplexing(TDD)techniquestoachievehighefficiencyintheutilizationofbroadbandspectrum.TheTD-LTEsystemarchitectureisdividedintotwoparts:theradioaccessnetwork(RAN)andthecorenetwork.TheRANincludestheeNodeB(evolvedNodeB)andtheuserequipment(UE).TheeNodeBisresponsibleforcontrollingthecommunicationbetweendifferentUEs,anditcommunicateswiththecorenetworkforroutingandmanagementtasks.
MU-MIMOTechnology
MU-MIMOtechnologyallowsmultipleuserstotransmitandreceivedataatthesametimeusingthesamefrequencyband.Thistechnologyusesspatialstreams,whichareindependentdatapathsbetweendifferentantennas,totransmitandreceivedatafrommultipleusers.MU-MIMOisakeytechnologyforimprovingthespectrumefficiencyandoverallcapacityofwirelessnetworks.
MU-MIMOinTD-LTE
InTD-LTEsystems,MU-MIMOisusedtoincreasethecapacityandimprovetheperformanceofthenetwork.Inthissystem,theeNodeBusesmultipleantennastotransmitandreceivedatafrommultipleUEsatthesametime.Byusingthistechnology,theeNodeBcantransmitdatatomultipleUEssimultaneously,whichsignificantlyimprovestheoverallthroughputofthenetwork.
OutdoorPerformanceTest
InordertoevaluatetheperformanceofTD-LTEsystemusingMU-MIMOinanoutdoorenvironment,weconductedafieldtestinanopenareawithnoobstacles.ThetestwascarriedoutusingaTD-LTEtestbed,whichconsistedofaneNodeBandseveralUEs.
