Introduction
Naturalconvectionisaphenomenoninwhichfluidmotioniscausedbythetemperaturedifference.Inmanyindustrialprocesses,naturalconvectionisacrucialfactorinheattransfer.Thestudyofnaturalconvectioninplastictubeworkshopsisessentialfortheoptimizationofmanufacturingprocessesandimprovementofproductquality.Thispaperaimstoprovideacomprehensiveanalysisofthenaturalconvectionprocessoccurringinplastictubeworkshops.
Background
Aplastictubeworkshopisafactorythatproducesvarioustypesofplastictubes,suchasPVC,PE,andPP.Themanufacturingprocessinvolvesextrusion,whereplasticpelletsaremeltedandconvertedintomoltenplastic,whichisthenextrudedthroughadye.Theextrudedplastictubeisthencooledandcuttothedesiredlength.Thisprocessgeneratesasignificantamountofheat,whichneedstobedissipatedtomaintaintheproduct'squalityandproductionefficiency.
Naturalconvectionisaprocessinwhichfluidmotioniscausedbythetemperaturedifference.Whenafluidisheated,itexpands,becominglessdenseandrising.Simultaneously,coolerfluidflowstowardstheheatedfluid,creatingaloopoffluidmovement.Inthecaseofaplastictubeworkshop,thehotplasticexitingtheextrudercreatesaheatsource,whichcausesanaturalconvectionflowofairintheworkshop.
ExperimentalSet-up
Theexperimentalset-upconsistedofasimplifiedmodelthatrepresentedaplastictubeworkshop.Themodelhaddimensionsof0.5mx0.5mx0.5mandwasmadeoftransparentacrylic.Four100Wheaterswereplacedatthebottomofthemodeltosimulatetheheatsource.Athermocouplewasplacedatdifferentpositionsinsidethemodeltomeasurethetemperature.Adigitalcamerawasusedtocapturethenaturalconvectionflow.
Results
Theexperimentalresultsshowedthatthenaturalconvectionflowintheplastictubeworkshopwasacomplexprocessinvolvingmultipleflowpatterns,includingupwardanddownwardflows,vortexflows,andjets.Theflowpatternswereinfluencedbytheheatsource'slocation,thetemperaturedifference,andthegeometryoftheworkshop.Theflowpatternscouldbeclassifiedintotworegimes:laminarandturbulent.
