ThispaperaimstopresentthedesignofanAC-DCconverterbasedonthePSMmodulationapproach.Theproposedconverterisexpectedtodeliverhighpower-density,excellentefficiency,andreliableperformance. PSMModulationApproach PSMisapopularmodulationtechniquethatregulatestheoutputofanAC-DCconverterbyvaryingthepulsewidthoftheswitchingsignal.Theprimarypurposeofthisapproachistomaintainastablevoltageoutputfortheload,irrespectiveofanychangesintheinputvoltageorloadcurrent.PSMisarobustandhighlyefficientapproach,makingitsuitableforhigh-powerAC-DCconverters.TheswitchingfrequencyuseddeterminestheperformanceofthePSMapproach. DesignoftheAC-DCConverter TheproposedAC-DCconverterdesignisbasedonthePSMmodulationapproach.Figure1showstheblockdiagramoftheAC-DCconverterdesign.Theinputvoltageisfirstfilteredusingacapacitorandisthenrectifiedusingafull-bridgerectifier.Theoutputfromtherectifieristhenfedintoaboostconverter,whichstepsupthevoltagetoalevelsufficienttodrivetheload. ThePSMapproachusedinthedesigninvolvesafixedcarrierfrequencyandavariabledutycycletoregulatetheoutputvoltage.Thedutycycleisvariedproportionaltotheload,ensuringastablevoltageoutputacrossdifferentloads. Thecircuitcomponentswereselectedbasedontherequiredpowerratingandfrequencyresponse.Thedesignuseshigh-frequencyswitchingcomponentstoenablehighpower-densityandexcellentefficiency.
