Animalabuseisaheinousactthatcancauseimmensesufferingtoanimalswhoarenotcapableofdefendingthemselves.Itcoversawiderangeofbehaviorsfromneglect,physicalviolence,andevenkillingofanimals.Theactofanimalabuseisnotonlydetrimentaltothewelfareofanimalsbutitalsoposesathreattothewell-beingofsociety.Itisevidentthatanimalabusersarelikelytoengageinotherformsofviolence,suchasdomesticviolenceandchildabuse.Thus,thereisaneedtocriminalizeanimalabusetoensurethatsuchheinousactsarenottoleratedinsociety.Thispaperexplorestheconceptofcriminalizinganimalabusebyexaminingitsimportance,thecurrentstateofthelaw,andthepotentialchallengestosuchamove.
Theimportanceofcriminalizinganimalabuse
