Introduction
RFID(RadioFrequencyIdentification)systemsusewirelesscommunicationtechnologytotransmitinformationfromatagtoareaderwithouttheneedforphysicalcontactbetweenthetwo.RFIDsystemshavegainedpopularityinvariousindustries,includinglogistics,retail,andhealthcare,duetotheirefficiencyandconvenience.However,oneofthemajorchallengesfacingRFIDsystemsistheproblemoftagcollisions.Tagcollisionsoccurwhenmultipletagsrespondtoareadersimultaneously,makingitdifficultforthereadertoidentifyanddistinguisheachtagindividually.Thisproblemcanleadtoerrorsindatacollectionandprocessing,resultingininefficiencyandreducedaccuracy.Therefore,preventingtagcollisionsisessentialtoensuretheeffectivenessofRFIDsystems.Thispaperdiscussestheresearchonanti-collisionalgorithmsinultra-high-frequencyRFIDsystemstopreventtagcollisions.
Anti-CollisionAlgorithms
Anti-collisionalgorithmsareusedtopreventtagcollisionsinRFIDsystems.Thetwomaintypesofanti-collisionalgorithmsinRFIDsystemsaredeterministicalgorithmsandprobabilisticalgorithms.Deterministicalgorithmsuseapre-determinedprotocoltoidentifytags,whileprobabilisticalgorithmsusestatisticalmethodstoreducetheprobabilityofcollisions.Ultra-high-frequencyRFIDsystemsuseprobabilisticalgorithmstoavoidtagcollisionsduetothelargenumberoftagsandthehighreadingspeedrequired.
SlottedAlohaAlgorithm
TheSlottedAlohaalgorithmisoneoftheprobabilisticalgorithmsusedinultra-high-frequencyRFIDsystems.Thisalgorithmdividestimeintoslotsandassignseachtagarandomtimeslottotransmititssignal.Iftwoormoretagstransmitatthesametime,acollisionoccurs,andthereaderrequeststhetagstore-transmittheirsignalinthenexttimeslot.Thisprocesscontinuesuntilthereaderreceivesthesignalofeachtagindividually.TheSlottedAlohaalgorithmreducescollisionsbyrandomlyassigningtimeslotstotags,resultinginamoreefficientuseoftheavailablebandwidth.
