Introduction:
Vocabularylearningplaysacrucialroleinlanguageacquisition,especiallyforhighschoolstudentswhoareonthevergeoftransitioningtohighereducationortheworkforce.Effectivevocabularyacquisitionstrategiescanhelpstudentsimprovetheirreading,writing,listening,andspeakingskills.ThisstudyaimstoexplorethevocabularylearningstrategiesemployedbyhighschoolstudentsandtheireffectivenessinenhancingtheirEnglishlanguageproficiency.
Methodology:
Thisstudyfollowsacross-sectionaldesign,whichinvolvesdatacollectionfromdifferentgroupsofparticipantsatthesamepointintime.Asampleofhighschoolstudentsfromdifferentgradesandbackgroundswillbeselectedusingstratifiedrandomsampling.Asurveyquestionnairewillbedevelopedandadministeredtomeasurestudents'vocabularylearningstrategies.Thequestionnairewillincludebothclosed-endedandopen-endedquestionstogatherquantitativeaswellasqualitativedata.
ResultsandDiscussion:
Thesurveydatawillbeanalyzedusingbothdescriptiveandinferentialstatisticstoidentifythemostcommonlyusedvocabularylearningstrategiesamonghighschoolstudents.Thestudywillalsoinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenthesestrategiesandstudents'Englishlanguageproficiencyscores.Furthermore,thequalitativedataobtainedfromopen-endedquestionswillbeanalyzedthematicallytoprovidedeeperinsightsintostudents'preferences,experiences,andchallengesrelatedtovocabularylearning.
Findings:
Thefindingsofthestudywillprovideacomprehensiveunderstandingofthevocabularylearningstrategiesemployedbyhighschoolstudents.Itisanticipatedthatstudentswilladoptavarietyofstrategiessuchasrotememorization,contextclues,wordassociation,andtheuseofvocabularylearningappsoronlineresources.Thestudywillalsoshedlightontheeffectivenessofthesestrategiesinimprovingstudents'Englishlanguageproficiency.
Implications:
Theresultsofthisstudywillhavesignificantimplicationsforbotheducatorsandstudents.Educatorscangaininsightsintothemosteffectivevocabularylearningstrategie
