Introduction:
Theincreasingtrendofinternationalstudentmobilityhasledtoagrowinginterestinunderstandingthefactorsinfluencingstudents'decisionstostudyabroad.ThispaperaimstoexaminetheintentionofGermanuniversitystudentstostudyinChina,usingtheTheoryofPlannedBehavior(TPB)astheconceptualframework.TheTPBsuggeststhatindividuals'behavioralintentionsarepredictedbytheirattitudes,subjectivenorms,andperceivedbehavioralcontrol.Byapplyingthistheory,wecangaininsightsintothefactorsdrivingorhinderingGermanstudents'intentiontostudyinChina.
Attitudes:
Attitudesarebasedonanindividual'sevaluationofthelikelypositiveornegativeoutcomesofaparticularbehavior.InthecontextofstudyingabroadinChina,Germanstudentsmayconsidernumerousfactors,suchaseducationalquality,culturalexperience,languageacquisition,careerprospects,andpersonaldevelopmentopportunities.PositiveattitudestowardsthesefactorsmayenhancetheirintentiontostudyinChina.Conversely,concernsregardinglanguagebarriers,culturaldifferences,safety,andunfamiliaritywiththeeducationsystemmaynegativelyimpacttheirattitudes.
SubjectiveNorms:
Subjectivenormscapturetheperceivedsocialpressuresorexpectationsfromsignificantothersthatinfluenceanindividual'sdecision-making.Germanstudents'intentiontostudyinChinamaybeshapedbytheinfluenceoftheirfamilies,friends,universityfaculty,andsocietyasawhole.FavorablesubjectivenormsfromthesesourcescouldencouragetheirintentiontostudyinChina,astheirsupportandencouragementcanalleviateuncertaintiesandprovideasenseofvalidation.Conversely,ifsignificantothersexpressdoubtsorconcernsaboutstudyinginChina,itmaydetertheirintention.
