Abstract:
Withtherapiddevelopmentofwirelesscommunicationsystems,thedemandforlow-costandhigh-performancereceiversisincreasing.ThispaperfocusesonthedesignandresearchoftheRFfront-endofa2.4GHzdirectconversionreceiver.Thereceiverarchitecture,componentselection,andparameteroptimizationarediscussedindetail.Theperformanceofthereceiverisevaluatedthroughsimulationandpracticalimplementation.Theresultsdemonstratethattheproposedreceiverdesignachievesexcellentperformanceintermsofsensitivity,selectivity,anddynamicrange.
1.Introduction
Thedirectconversionreceiverisapopularchoiceformanywirelesscommunicationsystemsduetoitssimplicity,lowcost,andhighintegration.Inthispaper,wefocusondesigningtheRFfront-endofadirectconversionreceiveroperatingat2.4GHz,whichiscommonlyusedforapplicationssuchasWi-Fi,Bluetooth,andZigbee.TheRFfront-endisresponsibleforreceivingandconvertingtheincomingRFsignalstobasebandsignalsforfurtherprocessing.
2.ReceiverArchitecture
Thereceiverarchitectureconsistsofseveralkeycomponents,includingalow-noiseamplifier(LNA),amixer,andalocaloscillator(LO).TheLNAamplifiestheweakincomingRFsignalswhilemaintainingalownoisefigure.ThemixermixestheamplifiedRFsignalswiththeLOsignaltogeneratebothsumanddifferencefrequencycomponentsatthebaseband.TheLOsignalistypicallygeneratedbyavoltage-controlledoscillator(VCO)andfrequencysynthesizer.
3.ComponentSelection
Theperformanceofthereceiverheavilyreliesontheselectionofcomponents.Inthisdesign,wechooseahigh-gainandlow-noiseLNAwithanoisefigurebelow2dB.Themixerselectedshouldhaveahighlinearitytoavoidintermodulationdistortion,andaconversiongaincloseto0dB.TheVCOshouldcoverthedesiredfrequencyrangewithlowphasenoisetoensuresignalquality.Additionally,passivecomponentssuchasfiltersandmatchingnetworksshouldbecarefullyselectedtooptimizethereceiver'sperformance.
