MethodsforCaCu3Ti4O12Synthesis SeveralmethodshavebeenproposedforthesynthesisofCaCu3Ti4O12,includingthesolid-statereactionmethod,sol-gelmethod,microwave-assistedmethod,hydrothermalmethod,andcombustionmethod.Thesolid-statereactionmethodisthemostwidelyusedbecauseofitsrelativeeaseofimplementationandhighyield.Thismethodinvolvesgrindingtherawmaterials(CaCO3,CuO,andTiO2)inaballmillandthenheatingthemathightemperatures(above1000°C)forseveralhoursinafurnace.Theproductisthenpurified,dried,andpressedintoadiscshape. Thesol-gelmethodinvolvesdissolvingtheprecursorsaltsinasolventandthengraduallyevaporatingthesolventtoformagel,whichisthenheatedtoformasolid.Themicrowave-assistedmethodinvolvesapplyingmicrowaveradiationtotheprecursorsaltsinthepresenceofareducingagenttoacceleratethereactionkinetics,whilethehydrothermalmethodinvolvesheatingtheprecursorsaltsinasealedreactionvesselunderhigh-pressuresteam. ThecombustionmethodisarelativelynewmethodthatusesacombustionreactiontosynthesizeCaCu3Ti4O12.Thismethodinvolvesmixingtheprecursorsaltswithafuelandanoxidizerandthenheatingthemixtureuntilitself-combusts.Thereactiontakesplaceinaveryshorttime(lessthan10seconds),andtheproductcanbeobtainedinahighlycrystallineform.However,thismethodisnotwidelyusedforCaCu3Ti4O12synthesis.
