Introduction:
Withtheincreasingcomplexityofelectronicsystems,ithasbecomeimportanttoensuretheirreliabilityandperformance.Oneapproachtoachievethisistheuseofpassivetestsystemsthatcoulddetectanddiagnosefaultsincircuitswithoutprovidinganystimulus.Inthispaper,wedescribethedesignofanautomaticpassivetestsystemforairbornedevicesbasedonon-boardequipment.
Background:
Traditionaltestsystemsrelyongeneratingvoltageorcurrentsignaltoapplytheinputtothecircuitandthenanalyzetheoutputresponsetothestimulus.Theseactivetests,however,can'tcapturethebehaviorofthecircuitwhenthereisnoinputsignal.That'swherepassivetestingcomesintoplay.
Passivetesting,unlikeactivetesting,doesn'tgenerateexternalstimuli;instead,thesesystemsrelyontheanalysisofcircuitbehaviorundernaturalconditions.Thismethodmimicstheuseofanoscilloscopeorvoltagemetertomonitorthedevice'sperformancewithoutapplyinganyinputsignal.
Theuseofpassivetestsystemsisadvantageousinmanyways,itallowsustodiagnoseanddetectfaultswithoutdisturbingthesystemundertest.Multipletechniqueshavebeendevelopedtodetectdifferenttypesoffaults,suchasstuck-atfaults,delayfaults,bridgingfaults,andmanymore.
SystemDesign:
Theproposedpassivetestsystemisdesignedtoovercomethelimitationsoftraditionaltestsystems.Thesystemisdesignedtocapturethecircuitbehaviorpassivelyandanalyzeittodetectanyanomalyincircuitperformance.
Thesystemiscomposedoftwomaincomponents:on-boardequipmentandground-basedequipment.
On-boardequipmentisresponsibleforcapturingthecircuitresponsetonaturalstimuli,i.e.,noexternalstimulusisapplied.Toensurethatthesystemworkswithoutanyadditionalinputs,thecircuitresponseiscapturedundernormaloperationalconditions.
Ground-basedequipmentisresponsibleforanalyzinganddiagnosingthedatareceivedfromtheon-boardequipment.
Theon-boardequipmentiscomposedofseveralsensorsthatcapturedifferentaspectsofcircuitbehavior,suchastemperature,voltage,current,andotherrelevantfactors.Thedatacollectedbythesesensorsisthensenttoground-basedequipment,whereitismonitoredandanalyze
