Introduction
High-LevelDataLinkControl(HDLC)protocoliswidelyusedindatacommunicationsystems.Theprotocolprovidesbit-orienteddatalinkcontrolproceduresfortransmittingandreceivingdataovercommunicationlinks.Inthispaper,wewillfocusontheimplementationofHDLCprotocolusingCSoC(CustomizableSystems-on-Chip)technology.ThispaperwillfirstintroducetheHDLCprotocolandexplainitsimportantfeatures.WewillthendiscussthefeaturesandadvantagesofCSoCtechnologyandexaminehowitcanbeusedtoimplementtheHDLCprotocol.Finally,wewillconcludewithasummaryofourfindings.
HDLCProtocol
TheHigh-LevelDataLinkControl(HDLC)protocolisabit-orienteddatalinkcontrolprotocolthatisusedtotransmitframesofdataovercommunicationlinks.Theprotocoliswidelyusedinvarioustypesofdatacommunicationsystems,includingPoint-to-PointProtocol(PPP),IntegratedServicesDigitalNetwork(ISDN),andothercommunicationnetworks.
OneofthemostimportantfeaturesoftheHDLCprotocolisitsabilitytoprovidereliabledatatransferoverunreliablecommunicationlinks.Theprotocolusesvarioustechniques,includingerrordetectionandcorrectionmechanisms,toensuretheintegrityofthedatabeingtransmitted.HDLCisalsoasynchronousprotocol,whichmeansthatitmaintainssynchronizationbetweenthetransmitterandreceiver,ensuringthatdataistransmittedandreceivedcorrectly.
AnotherimportantfeatureoftheHDLCprotocolisitssupportformultiplelogicalchannelswithinasinglephysicalchannel.Thisallowsdifferenttypesofdatatobetransmittedoverasinglephysicalchannel,providingmoreefficientuseofthecommunicationlink.
