TheabilitytoreadandcomprehendisoneofthemostfundamentalskillsforlearnersoftheEnglishlanguage.Itisavitalcomponentoflanguagelearningthathelpsstudentsdeveloptheircommunicationabilities,increasetheirvocabulary,andenhancetheirunderstandingofdifferentconceptsandcultures.InordertoimproveEnglishlanguageteachingandlearning,there’saneedforeducatorstobemoreproactiveinenhancingthereadingskillsoftheirstudents.Thispaperwillexplorevariousstrategiesandapproachesthatcanbeusedtoimprovestudents’Englishreadingskills.
ImportanceofreadinginEnglishlanguagelearning
ReadingisacriticalaspectofEnglishlanguagelearningandshouldbeintegratedintothecurriculumatalllevels.Beingabletoreadfluentlyensuresthatlearnerscanaccessawiderangeofmaterials,texts,andresourcesinEnglish.Forinstance,readingisnecessaryforresearchinginformationonline,anditopensupopportunitiesforlearnerstoengagewiththeworldbeyondtheirimmediateenvironment.
