Abstract:
Stairwellsareessentialcomponentsofbuildings,servingascrucialpathwaysforverticalmovement.Efficientutilizationofstaircases,particularlyduringhightrafficsituations,requiresanunderstandingofthecharacteristicsofmergingpedestrianflowinstairwells.Thisstudyaimstoinvestigatethefactorsinfluencingpedestrianflowmergingbehavior,analyzetheeffectsofmergingonoverallflowefficiencyandsafety,andproposestrategiesforoptimizingstairwelldesignandmanagingpedestrianflow.
Introduction:
Efficientmanagementofpedestrianflowinstairwellsiscrucialforensuringsmoothandsafeverticalmovementwithinbuildings.Understandingthecharacteristicsofmergingpedestrianflowisessentialforoptimizingstairwelldesignanddevelopingeffectivecrowdmanagementstrategies.Thisstudyaimstoprovideinsightsintothefactorsaffectingpedestrianflowmergingbehavior,analyzetheeffectsofmergingonflowefficiencyandsafety,andproposerecommendationsforimprovingthedesignandmanagementofstairwells.
