Abstract:
Soilplaysacrucialroleinmaintainingthehealthandstabilityofforestecosystems.ThisstudyaimstocomparethephysicochemicalcharacteristicsofsoilsinrepresentativeforestsinnorthernJiangsu,China,focusingontheSuBeiregion.Theresearchprovidesvaluableinsightsintothesoilpropertiesandhighlightstheimportanceofsoilconservationandmanagementforsustainableforestecosystems.
Introduction:
Soilplaysavitalroleinsupportingthegrowthanddevelopmentofforestecosystems.Theunderstandingofsoilphysicochemicalpropertiesiscrucialforsustainableforestmanagement.NorthernJiangsu,particularlytheSuBeiregion,isrenownedforitsdiverseforests,makingitanideallocationforconductingacomparativestudy.ThisstudyexploresthephysicochemicalpropertiesofsoilsinrepresentativeforestsinSuBei,providingimportantinsightsforsustainableforestmanagementpractices.
MaterialsandMethods:
1.Siteselection:SelectionofrepresentativeforestsitesinSuBeiregionbasedonforesttype,age,anditshistoryofmanagement.
2.Soilsamplecollection:Soilsampleswerecollectedfromeachsiteatthreedifferentdepths(0-20cm,20-40cm,and40-60cm)usinganauger.
3.Soilanalysis:Variousphysicochemicalparameters,includingsoilpH,organicmattercontent,totalnitrogen,availablephosphorus,exchangeablepotassium,cationexchangecapacity(CEC),andsoiltexture,weredeterminedusingstandardlaboratorymethods.
4.Statisticalanalysis:Dataanalysiswasperformedusingstatisticalsoftwaretocomparethesoilcharacteristicsamongdifferentforestsites.
Results:
1.SoilpH:ThepHofsoilsindifferentforestsvariedsignificantly.Coniferousforestsexhibitedacidicsoilconditions,whilebroadleafforestsshowedslightlyacidictoneutralpHvalues.
2.Organicmattercontent:Forestswithhigherlitteraccumulationdisplayedhigherorganicmattercontent.Coniferousforestsshowedhigherorganicmattercontentcomparedtobroadleafforests.
3.Totalnitrogen:Thetotalnitrogencontentwashigherinbroadleafforeststhaninconiferousforests,indicati
