Withtheincreasingdemandforhigh-speeddataandvoicecommunication,theneedforefficientandseamlesswirelesscommunicationisontherise.However,duetothediverseandcomplexnatureofwirelessnetworks,meetingtheseneedsrequirestheuseofseveraltechnologiesandprotocols.OnesuchtechnologyistheTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetwork,whichcombinesthestrengthsofbothTD-SCDMAandGSMtechnologiestodeliverhigh-speeddataservicesandvoicecommunicationservices.Inthispaper,wewillanalyzetheTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetwork,itscomponents,architecture,andadvantages.
ArchitectureofTD-SCDMA/GSMHybridNetwork
ThearchitectureoftheTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetworkconsistsoffourmaincomponents,whichincludestheuserequipment(UE),theBaseStationSystem(BSS),thecorenetwork,andtheoperationandmaintenancecenter(OMC).
TheUserEquipment(UE)istheend-userdevicethatenablesaccesstothewirelessnetwork.TheUEinTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetworkcansupportbothTD-SCDMAandGSMtechnologies,makingitcompatiblewithbothnetworks.Thiscompatibilityallowsuserstocommunicateoneitherofthenetworksbasedonthenetworkavailabilityandservicetype.
TheBaseStationSystem(BSS)isthenetworkcomponentresponsiblefortheconnectionbetweentheUEandthecorenetwork.TheBSSconsistsofradionetworkcontrollers(RNCs)andbasetransceiverstations(BTSs),whichprovidetheradiointerfacebetweentheUEandthenetwork.TheRNCsintheTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetworkareresponsibleformanagingtheradioresourcesandallocatingthemtotheappropriatenetworkbasedonavailabilityanddemand.
ThecorenetworkisthebackboneoftheTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetwork,providingthenecessaryintelligencerequiredtomanageandoperatethenetwork.Thecorenetworkcomponentsincludethemobilitymanagemententity(MME),theservinggateway(SGW),thepacketdatanetworkgateway(PGW),andthehomesubscriberserver(HSS).Thecorenetworkisresponsibleforprovidingservicessuchasvoicecommunications,messaging,anddatatransferbetweentheUEandexternalnetworks.
TheOperationandMaintenanceCenter(OMC)isresponsibleformanagingandmaintainingtheTD-SCDMA/GSMhybridnetwork.TheOMCperformsvarioustaskssuchasnetw
