Abstract:
ThemitochondrialgenomeofLanzhoucatfish(Siluriformes:familyClariidae)isavaluableresourceforstudyingthegeneticdiversityandevolutionaryhistoryofthisspecies.Inthisstudy,wesequencedandanalyzedthecompletemitochondrialgenomeofLanzhoucatfishandperformedaphylogeneticanalysisofrelatedspecies.
Introduction:
Mitochondriaplayavitalroleinenergyproductionandarealsocrucialforunderstandingtheevolutionaryrelationshipswithinfishspecies.ThesequencingofthecompletemitochondrialgenomeprovidesavaluableresourceforstudyingthegeneticdiversityandphylogeneticrelationshipsofLanzhoucatfish.
Methods:
Inthisstudy,genomicDNAwasextractedfrommuscletissuesofLanzhoucatfishspecimens.Thecompletemitochondrialgenomewassequencedusinghigh-throughputsequencingtechnologies.Thegenearrangement,basecomposition,codonusage,andgeneticdistanceswereanalyzed.Multiplesequencealignmentwasperformed,andamaximumlikelihoodphylogenetictreewasconstructedtodeterminetheevolutionaryrelationshipofLanzhoucatfishwithotherrelatedspecies.
Results:
ThecompletemitochondrialgenomeofLanzhoucatfishwasfoundtobeacircularmoleculewithalengthofapproximately16,670basepairs.Itexhibitedthetypicalvertebratemitochondrialgenearrangement:13protein-codinggenes,2rRNAgenes,22tRNAgenes,andanon-codingcontrolregion.Theoverallbasecompositionwasbiasedtowardsadenineandthymine,withahighA+Tcontentof56.5%.ThecodonusageanalysisrevealedapreferenceforcodonsendingwithAorT,whichisconsistentwithpreviousfindingsinotherfishspecies.
ThephylogeneticanalysisshowedthatLanzhoucatfishclusteredwithothercatfishspecieswithintheorderSiluriformes,indicatingtheircloseevolutionaryrelationship.Specifically,LanzhoucatfishformedacladewiththespeciesofthefamilyClariidae.ThisresultsupportstheexistingtaxonomicclassificationandcontributestoourunderstandingoftheevolutionaryhistoryofLanzhoucatfish.
