HistoricalBackground:
Historically,EnglishliteraturehasbeenthemostdominantfocusofliteratureprogramsinspecializedEnglishteachinginmanycountries.Thiswasduetohistoricalandculturalreasons.TheUKandtheUShavebeenthedominantEnglish-speakingcountriessincethemid-twentiethcentury,andtheirliteraturehasbeenusedasthestandardfortheteachingandlearningofEnglish.
