Abstract:
OrthogonalFrequencyDivisionMultiplexing(OFDM)isapopulartechniqueusedinmodernwirelesscommunicationsystemsduetoitsadvantagesincopingwithfrequency-selectivefadingchannels.InOFDMsystems,accuratevelocityestimationoftheuseriscrucialfortheefficientemploymentofvariousalgorithmssuchaschannelestimation,equalization,andadaptivemodulation.ThispaperexplorestheapplicationofblindvelocityestimationtechniquesinOFDMsystemsandanalyzestheirimpactonsystemperformance.
Introduction:
OFDMisakeytechnologyusedinvariouswirelesscommunicationsystemssuchas4GLTE,5G,andWi-Fi.Itsplitstheavailablespectrumintomultiplesubcarriersandtransmitsdatainparallel.However,theperformanceofOFDMsystemsisseverelyaffectedbymultipathfading,channeldispersion,andDopplershiftscausedbytheuser'svelocity.Therefore,accurateestimationoftheuser'svelocityisnecessaryforefficientresourceallocationandadaptability.
BlindVelocityEstimationTechniques:
1.CyclostationaryAnalysis:
CyclostationaryanalysisutilizestheinherentcyclostationarycharacteristicsofOFDMsignalstoestimatetheuser'svelocity.Byexploitingthecycliccorrelationpropertiesofthereceivedsignal,theblindvelocityestimationalgorithmcanestimatetheDopplerfrequencyshiftand,subsequently,thevelocity.However,thistechniqueiscomputationallycomplexandrequiresatrainingsequencetobuildacyclicfrequencycorrelationmatrix.
2.ChannelEstimation-BasedTechniques:
Blindvelocityestimationtechniquescanalsobeperformedbyexploitingthecharacteristicsofthechannelestimate.Byanalyzingthevariationsinthechannelestimateasafunctionoftheuser'svelocity,blindvelocityestimationalgorithmscanaccuratelyestimatetheuser'svelocity.However,thistechniquerequiresaccuratechannelestimation,whichmayincreasethecomplexityandoverheadofthesystem.
3.Higher-OrderStatistics(HOS):
Higher-orderstatisticstechniques,suchaskurtosisorskewnessanalysis,canbeusedtoestimatetheuser'svelocityblindly.Thesetechniquesexploitthenon-Gaussiannatureofthereceive
