Abstract:
High-temperaturepyrolysiscoupledwithIsotopeRatioMassSpectrometry(HT-IRMS)isapowerfultechniqueusedtodeterminetheoxygenisotopiccompositionoforganiccompounds.UnderstandingthefactorsthatinfluencetheHT-IRMSmeasurementoforganiccompoundoxygenisotopesiscrucialforaccurateandreliableanalysis.ThispaperprovidesanoverviewofthesefactorsandproposesmethodimprovementstoenhancetheaccuracyandprecisionofHT-IRMSmeasurements.
1.Introduction:
HT-IRMSiswidelyusedinvariousfieldssuchasgeochemistry,environmentalscience,andbiologicalresearchtodeterminetheoxygenisotopiccompositionoforganiccompounds.Thetechniqueinvolvesthepyrolysisoforganicsamplesathightemperatures,followedbytheanalysisoftheevolvedgasesusingIRMS.However,severalfactorscanaffecttheaccuracyofHT-IRMSmeasurements,anditisessentialtounderstandandaddressthesefactorsforreliableresults.
