Abstract:
Safetyisaparamountconcerninthedesignandoperationofgastransmissionstations.LayerofProtectionAnalysis(LOPA)isasystematicandquantitativeapproachutilizedtoevaluatetheintegrityofsafetysystemsanddetermineSafetyIntegrityLevels(SILs)duringthedesignphaseofthesefacilities.ThispaperprovidesanoverviewofLOPAanditsapplicationindeterminingSILsforgastransmissionstations,highlightingitsbenefitsinensuringthesafetyandreliabilityofthesecriticalinfrastructures.
1.Introduction:
Thedesignphaseofgastransmissionstationsinvolvesnumerousdecisionsregardingprocessdesign,equipmentselection,andsafetysystemimplementation.Implementingappropriatesafetymeasuresandsystemsiscrucialtopreventpotentialincidents,ensurepersonnelsafety,andprotecttheenvironment.LOPA,asastructuredandrisk-basedanalysismethod,providesvaluableinsightsintodeterminingSILsandensuringsafetyintegrity.
2.OverviewofLOPAmethod:

c)Riskassessment:Theidentifiedhazardsarethenassessedintermsoftheirconsequences,probabilityofoccurrence,andpotentialimpacts.
d)Riskreductionrequirements:Ba
