Abstract
Inthispaper,aresearchstudywasconductedonacalibrationmethodforamegawattlaserpowermeter.Atwo-stepcalibrationprocesswasproposed,includingapre-calibrationstageandapost-calibrationstage.Thepre-calibrationstageinvolvesmeasuringthepowerofareferencelaseronacalibratedpowermetertoobtainacorrectionfactor.Thepost-calibrationstageinvolvesusingthecorrectionfactortocalibratethemegawattlaserpowermeter.Theproposedcalibrationmethodhastheadvantageofsimplicity,speed,andaccuracy.Itissuitableforuseinindustrialandresearchsettings.
Introduction
Laserpowermetersarecrucialinthemeasurementandcontroloflaserbeampower.Theaccuratemeasurementoflaserpoweriscriticalinlaserprocessing,suchascutting,welding,andmarking.Severaltypesoflaserpowermetersareavailable,suchasthermaldetectors,pyroelectricdetectors,andphotodiodedetectors.Megawattlaserpowermetersaresuitableforhigh-powerindustriallaserapplications,buttheircalibrationcanbechallenging.Thehighpowerofthelaserbeamcanaffecttheaccuracyofthecalibration,andaprecisecalibrationmethodisnecessarytoproducereliablemeasurements.
Inthisstudy,weproposeanewcalibrationmethodformegawattlaserpowermeters.Themethodincludesapre-calibrationstageandapost-calibrationstage,whichinvolvestheuseofareferencelaserandacalibratedpowermeter.
Pre-calibrationStage
Thepre-calibrationstageinvolvesmeasuringthepowerofareferencelaseronacalibratedpowermeter.Thereferencelasercanbeofanypower,butitshouldbestableandhaveaknownpoweroutputvalue.Thepowermeterusedforpre-calibrationshouldbecalibratedandtraceabletoanationalstandard.Thereferencelasershouldbealignedwiththepowermetersensor,andthepoweroutputshouldbemeasured.Themeasurementshouldberepeatedseveraltimes,andtheaveragevalueshouldbecalculated.
