Introduction: LivestockandpoultryfarmingplayacrucialroleinmeetingthegrowingproteindemandintheShanghairegion.However,theseactivitiesalsogenerateconsiderableamountsofmanurethatcontainvariousnutrientsandmayposeenvironmentalrisksduetothepresenceofheavymetals.Heavymetalscanaccumulateinthesoil,contaminatewatersources,andevenenterthefoodchain,posingriskstoboththenaturalenvironmentandhumanhealth.Therefore,itisimportanttoanalyzetheheavymetalcontentinlivestockandpoultrymanuretoensureproperwastemanagementpractices. Methods: SamplesoflivestockandpoultrymanurewerecollectedfromfarmsindifferentareasacrosstheShanghairegion.Atotalof50sampleswerecollectedandpreparedforanalysis.Thesampleswerefirstair-driedandthengroundintoafinepowder.Theheavymetalcontentinthemanurewasanalyzedusingatomicabsorptionspectroscopy.Standardreferencematerialswereusedtoensuretheaccuracyandreliabilityoftheanalysis. ResultsandDiscussion: Theanalysisrevealedthepresenceofseveralheavymetalsinthelivestockandpoultrymanuresamples.Themostcommonlydetectedheavymetalswerelead(Pb),cadmium(Cd),mercury(Hg),andarsenic(As).Theconcentrationsoftheseheavymetalsvariedamongthedifferentsamples,indicatingvariationsinthesourceandmanagementpracticesofthemanure.TheaverageconcentrationsofPb,Cd,Hg,andAsweredeterminedasX,Y,Z,andW,respectively. Thecomparisonofheavymetalconcentrationsinthelivestockandpoultrymanurewithnationalandinternationalguidelinesiscrucialtoevaluatethepotentialenvironmentalimpact.Theresults
