Withthegrowingdemandforhigh-qualityproteinandtheincreaseinChina'surbanizationrate,thelivestockindustryhasbecomeoneofthemostimportantagriculturalindustriesinmainlandChina.ThisstudyaimstoanalyzethecurrentsupplyanddemandoflivestockproductsandthepotentialdemandforfeedgrainsinChina,focusingonthemajorlivestockproducts,includingpigs,poultry,andbeefcattle.

Chinaistheworld'slargestporkproducerandconsumer,accountingformorethanhalfoftheworld'stotalporkproduction.AccordingtotheNationalBureauofStatisticsofChina,thetotalhoginventoryinmainlandChinawasapproximately435millionheads,accountingfor53%oftheworld'stotalhoginventoryin2020.PoultryproductionrankssecondinChina,withanannualoutputofover20milliontons.BeefcattleproductioninChinaissmallerthanporkandpoultry,butitisstillsignificant,withover97millionheadsin2020.

DuetotheincreaseinincomeandurbanizationratesinmainlandChina,thedemandforlivestockproductshassignificantlyincreasedinrecentyears.In2020,thetotalmeatconsumptioninChinareached85milliontons,andthepercapitameatconsumptionwasover60kg.PorkisthemostconsumedmeatinChina,followedbypoultryandbeef.ThedomesticsupplyoflivestockproductsinChinahasincreasedsignificantlyinrecentyears,leadingtoasignificantincreaseinexportsofporkandpoultry.However,beefcattlemeatisstillmainlyconsumeddomesticallyduetoitsrelativelyhighprice.
PotentialDemandforFeedGrainsinMainlandChina
Thedemandforfeedgrains,mainlycornandsoybean,hasincreasedsignificantlyinmainlandChinaduetotheincreasingdemandforlivestockproducts.AccordingtotheMinistryofAgricultureandRuralAffairs,theconsumptionoffeedgrainsreached300milliontonsin2020,accountingformorethanhalfofthetotalgrainconsumptioninmainlandChina.Withtheincreasingdemandforlivestockproducts,thepotentialdemandforfeedgrainsinmainlandChinawillcontinuetogrow.Inthenextdecade,thedemandfo
