Introduction
Withtheincreasingglobalizationoftheworld,ithasbecomecrucialforindividualstohaveastrongunderstandingofdifferentculturesandbeabletocommunicateeffectivelywithpeoplefromallaroundtheglobe.Hence,theroleofEnglishlanguageteachinginpromotinglocalculturalexchangehasbecomeincreasinglysignificantthroughouttheworld,particularlyinlocaluniversitiesandcolleges.ThisresearchaimstoinvestigatetheimpactofEnglishlanguageteachingonthespreadoflocalcultureinlocaluniversitiesandcollegesinChina.
Background
Languageismorethanatoolofcommunication.Itisameansofexpressionandamediumforpeopletoshareideas,thoughts,andemotions.Moreover,languageisanessentialcomponentofcultureandidentity.Assuch,alanguageteacherhastheopportunitytoplayasignificantroleinpromotingandpreservingthelocalcultureandculturalexchange.Inrecentyears,theEnglishlanguagehasbecomethelanguageofchoiceforinternationalcommunication,makingEnglishlanguageteachinganadvantageousplatformforculturalexchange.EnglishlanguageteachinginlocaluniversitiesandcollegescancontributetothepromotionoflocalChineseculture,whichcanalsoaidinthepromotionandexchangeofChineseculturalvaluesandtraditionsontheinternationalstage.
Methodology
Theresearchemployedaqualitativecasestudydesign,whichisappropriateforgatheringin-depthdataconcerningtheimpactofEnglishlanguageteachingonthetransmissionoflocalculture.DatawascollectedthroughinterviewsoftenEnglishlanguageteachersinChineseuniversitiesandcolleges,andtenstudentsstudyingEnglishlanguageemergedthestudy'sparticipants.
Results
TheresultsofthestudyrevealthatEnglishlanguageteachinghasasignificantimpactonculturalexchangeatthelocaluniversitiesandcollegeslevelinChina.TheEnglishlanguageservesasameansofcommunication,whichprovidesaplatformtodiscussandexchangedifferentculturalperspectivesandpractices.StudentslearningEnglisharealsoexposedtovariousaspectsofChinesecultureandlocalcustomssuchasliterature,calligraphy,art,andmusicwhileconversingwiththeirteachers.TheteachingofEnglishlanguagealsoincludesdis
